Quarantine Face: Without Botox and Filler My Face Is Changing

Due to the coronavirus crisis, hair salons, nail salons, gyms, and cosmetic practices have been closed for several months.

Due to the coronavirus crisis, hair salons, nail salons, gyms, and cosmetic practices have been closed for several months.

During that time, many women and men have had their normal self-care routines disrupted and are dealing with grown-out color, too-long hair, and polish-free nails.

There are also people, like me, who haven’t been able to get their usual Botox and filler injections and are developing quarantine face. I personally can attest to the fact that, without Botox and filler my face is changing.

My Face is Changing Without Access to Botox and Filler

Without access to my regular Botox and filler treatments, I am definitely beginning to notice some changes in my skin and face. That’s not to say that my results suddenly disappeared at once.

Rather, I’ve started to see subtle differences over the past two months.

As Botox wears off, my forehead is more mobile, and those horizontal lines are becoming more evident.

My lips are looking less full, and I’ve lost some of the poutiness that I’ve become accustomed to.

In fact, since I’ve been undergoing regular Botox and filler treatments for the past three years, these enhancements have become a part of my appearance. To the extent, that I’ve come to think of them as my natural face.

So, you can see why the reemergence of unwanted lines and flatter, thinner lips is somewhat jarring and not in accordance from my newly formed self-image.

What I’ve Learned from My Quarantine Face

One thing I’ve learned from quarantine without my usual injectable treatments is that Botox and filler results are temporary. As much as I had come to accept them as part of who I was, I realize that they do require ongoing maintenance or will fade without follow-up.

At the same time, I appreciate the importance of an excellent injector now more than ever. Because my results were so natural and subtle, I never saw them as cosmetic work.

I considered them to be a normal part of my beauty routine, just like getting highlights or a manicure, to enhance my appearance and help me look my best.

Needless to say, I am looking forward to being able to resume my usual regime, which means making an appointment with my injector as soon as possible.
